Dear Suzanne,
Just thought I'd drop a quick note and give you a quick update on Megan. We feel truly lucky to have the pleasure of having such a wonderful dog. She continues to surprise us with her loyalty and love. Of course she is a bit on the spoiled side, having a whole basket of toys. |
When she gets tired, she ignores her two dog beds and simply goes upstairs and hops up on my daughter's bed. She goes to work with Chuck each day and simply adores him. If he is outside working in the yard she has to be out there with him.
She does love to roll in wild animal stuff, if you catch my drift. One day she tangled with a skunk and the next day she went down to the far road and across Route 8 to the neighbor's hog pen. Trust me, fresh hog doo is worse than a skunk! Our only worry is that she has gone down to Route 8 and that could be dangerous for her. For the most part she roams our seven acres and then comes and lays on the front yard surveying her domain. When we go out to run errands she goes with us and is never left home. When we stop for lunch, or at work when Chuck goes out for lunch, she gets her own hamburger or cheeseburger.
She has developed a most gorgeous coat of fur. Quite by accident I purchased a betadine and aloe horse shampoo. The shampoo seems to have a soothing effect on her skin and her fur is just beautiful, thick and shiny. Everywhere we go people remark what a beautiful dog she is. She is so well behaved we don't even know we have a dog in house. She has started to play with her dog toys a lot. When she first came she didn't seem to know what they were or show any interest in them. Now she plays with them tossing them in the air and chasing them around the house.
She is a love and she's more affectionate as time goes on, if that's even possible. I think the spirit of Ellie is coaching her. She comes in from outside and goes to the drawer in the kitchen where her special treats and chew bones are kept. Ellie used to do the same thing. Please don't worry about her, as she is thriving and she is very loved. I think Chuck hugs her and kisses her more than he does me. Thank you for finding this wonderful friend and companion for us.
Sincerely,
Gloria & Chuck
