Isabell's Story

by her parents, Kathy & Bobby Parks

First night home with Dad Bobby Parks

We adopted Isabelle on November 30, 2002, just eight weeks after we lost our first dog and beloved friend, Kali. We struggled with whether to adopt again -- especially so soon after Kali.s sudden death. Bobby very much wanted a bright, energetic, and loving dog, so a Border Collie was his natural choice. Our dog spends her days at my financial planning office with me, so I wanted a small, sweet female to nurture those who come to us for guidance and comfort in reference to the many wounds money can inflict on our hearts and souls.

Bobby naturally started searching the Border Collie Rescue website and found .Sadie., a small, sweet female who had been left on a corner and waited for days for her owners to return.

After visiting her at the animal shelter the night before Thanksgiving, it came to me that her name should be Isabelle. I don.t know why that particular name came to me, but I looked up the meaning and to my astonishment it meant .consecrated to God.. I figured that even if I wasn.t ready, I could certainly care for one of God's babies.

Despite my initial reluctance, bringing this one of God's creatures into our family has been a joy. She was skittish, skinny, missing large patches of hair and constantly scavenging for bits of food everywhere she could find them. After several weeks of good food, consistent and loving attention, a battery of new toys and loads of praise from our friends and clients, she is a different dog. She is beautiful, well-behaved, funny, and playful. She is now our baby, and we thank God for her.
