Cady's Story

by Cady's Mom, Darlene Suter

Cady while in still in Rescue

I just wanted to let you know that Cady is doing great. Phil was quite surprised when I brought her home. I handed him a little note saying "Hi my new dad, my name is Cady. I'm cute and lovable. Will you keep me?" He didn't quite know what to say so I brought him over to the truck. His eyes got huge when he saw her and the smile was ear to ear. He just adores her.

Of course she explored every inch of the house. She has claimed her bed right away. I haven't had a chance to get her a doggy bed yet so I pulled out a blanket and fluffed it up for her. She jumped right on it, curled up and took a nap.

She has toured just about every inch of the property and takes us on some great walks. We introduced her to our neighbors. They love her too. Their little dog is not quite sure if he does yet. He wasn't too social. We'll give them some time to get to know each other. They even gave her a little flavored bone to bring home.

Phil and Cady

We also introduced Cady to the horses. That was priceless. The gelding took a look at her and seemed okay with her. The mare seems a bit jealous. Cady is very curious of them but cautious as well. Cady was standing next to the fence and the mare reached down to sniff her. Cady reached up and nipped her nose. The mare jumped back and snorted at Cady; she didn't know what to think of this little thing nipping at her nose. Phil spends a lot of time at the barn and keeps Cady with him so the horses are getting used to her and are now accepting her presence.

Phil has been like a big kid with Cady. It's great to see them wrestle and play. He took her to Co-Op with him and they spoiled her rotten. Of course everybody loved her and they gave her several toys to bring home. Her toy basket is filling up quickly. She has been at his side constantly - they even take naps together. I wasn't sure if he would let her on the furniture, but she is so irresistible and so nice to cuddle, she jumped right up there and curled up next to him like she owns the place. He just smiled.

Phil introducing Cady to Nika for the first time

She doesn't mind the rain a bit. Phil took her out and she wanders around like it's nothing. She'll get in the middle of the yard and just sit down.

Coming home from work has a new perspective. It's so nice to have a little fur ball jumping and wiggling at the door when I come in. She gets so excited. Cady is such a joy for us. I am delighted that she has so easily settled in. She knew she was "home" the first day. And of course now she is running the place. It is amazing how one little critter can really make such a great change in your life.

Thank you so much for our little bundle of joy. She is truly wonderful. I'll keep you updated.
