Kit
Back to Adoptables
Meet Kit, a beautiful two year old purebred neutered male border collie. Kit is fully vaccinated, heartworm negative and on preventative. He is house trained, crate trained and well mannered in the house. He does not bark much at all, and is totally quiet once he is crated or put up in his kennel at night.
Kit was turned into a vet's office because his owner did not want him any more. He spent almost a year being boarded at the vet, until we were contacted and took him into rescue. He is a happy dog, absolutely loves to run and play in the fields, and gets along very well with the other dogs in his foster home. He does have herding instinct, but it is not as excessive - he shows no interest in getting into the sheep pasture in his foster home, but does occasionally bark at them if they move. He has not been tested around cats.
This boy loves women, although it takes him a while to warm up, but is afraid of men. We feel that he may have been abused by his former owner. He shows no fear aggression, but avoids men if he possibly can. He would do best in an all-female household, or with a couple who are prepared to be patient and give him time to warm up to the man in the household. He is not recommended for a home with young children because of his nervous nature.

Please note that as a policy ETBCR does not place puppies in families with children under 6 years of age, as border collies and border collie mixes can be very reactive to the movements of small children.
Prior to or upon adoption, all dogs in our rescue program are spayed/neutered (there are NO exceptions), fully vaccinated, heartworm negative, started on heartworm prevention, treated with flea and tick preventive, microchipped, and temperament tested. We also strive to crate and house train each dog before placement.
